Friends of the South Downs Online Photography Exhibition

Welcome to the results of the Friends of the South Downs 2019/20 photography competition. One of our core aims is to encourage people to get out into the South Downs National Park and enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of its many varied landscapes. What better way to do this than to record some favourite places on camera for all of us to enjoy? We are grateful to the Novium for giving us this opportunity to show you these fantastic pictures.

This is the second photography competition that we have held and we have been thrilled with the results on both occasions. In 2019/20 we had 98 adult entries and 25 from children and there were so many great shots that we found it very difficult to choose the winners. The judges were Richard Reed, Andrew Lovett and Caroline Douglas who are all Trustees of the Society and we were very grateful to have a guest judge, Angela Waters from the Midhurst Camera Club.

The brief was to celebrate the beauty of the SDNP - its landscape, wildlife, buildings and other man-made structures contributing to the cultural heritage of the area. Images had to be taken within the Park or as a view from outside the boundaries. The competition was open to both members and the public with the proviso that they were non-professionals. Previous entries have helped us by providing photos for use in our magazines, e-news letters, social media and a set of very popular note cards.

We hope you enjoy looking at the results and that it encourages you to go out into the Park and enjoy its wonderful landscape.
