COVID-19 update:

We continue to prioritise the safety and comfort of visitors, volunteers and staff.

From Monday, 19 July, we will be retaining the following measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for all:

  • We will be retaining a reduced capacity in the museum, and ask that you book your free admission online in advance of your visit to guarantee entry.
  • We will continue to collect contact details for everyone who enters the museum building to support the NHS Test and Trace system.
  • Hand sanitiser will be provided for you to use at the entrance to the museum. There will also be hand sanitiser situated at the museum lifts on each floor.
  • For your safety, and for the safety of other visitors and staff, we ask that face coverings are worn in our museum and shop.
  • We will be operating one-way circulation throughout the museum to help enable social distancing. Please adhere to this system and follow the arrows on the floor wherever possible. You can download a PDF museum map from this page.
  • The museum cafĂ© remains closed.
  • Our reference library is open. We ask that any books that you look at during your visit are placed into the 'book bins' provided, where they will then be quarantined for 72 hours.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. We hope you enjoy your visit!
