My initial response to the exhibition was an interest in the helmet, the armour plates and the delicate metalwork that decorated them. I started exploring armour pieces from various historical backgrounds and settled on creating a pair of gauntlets.

Initially I thought about a shape and style that reflected armour but which proposed theoretical questions, such as: in what way did the Mystery Warrior express his gender and how did he behave behind closed doors? I want my work to challenge the grand show of masculinity that came along with war and fighting in that age, but also to pose the possibility of a female presenting counterpart to the Mystery Warrior.

The final piece is decorated with rhinestones and beads, merging masculine, practical and flat with something feminine, meretricious and sparkly.
