Roman Food Talk

Wednesday, 2 June, 6pm

A virtual talk with Caroline Nicolay, Archaeology Interpreter and Living Historian specialising in ancient food, who will present the changes in diet and culinary habits brought to Britain by the Roman conquest as well as the impact the varied, well-adapted, but fundamentally different Iron Age/ Britannic diet had on the newcomers' way of eating! Between exotic imports, new utensils and local traditions, influences from all across the Empire follow the path of the Roman army and mix together to become a novel, unique, Romano-British cuisine.
